Career Counselling and Placement cell

The career guidance and placement cell has been set up in the college to provide the much needed life skill to students and help them to find job placement .The Cell's articles are initiated by the liaching faculty of different departments. The cell organizes orienatation programmes for the students for securing meaningful cases option .It assets students to develope and implement successful job strategic through proper liasioning with reputed companies.

Career Guidance and Counseling Cell aim to guide and direct students to set their career, goals and stimulate them to exercise their consistent endeavors to accomplish their career objectives. Keeping in view the competence, interests, and acquired knowledge of the students, it channels the young trainees to fetch lucrative specialized career. Various sessions are conducted to evaluate the students on the basis of their professional as well as interpersonal skills. The Cell helps them to explore new knowledge and inculcate recent company attitudes amongst them as per the requirements of the global competitive world.

Objectives of Career counseling cell are as follows:

Ø  To help students share knowledge about themselves by identifying skills, and interests.

Ø  To provide information about further course prerequisites, financial aid, academic planning, entrance examinations etc.

Ø  To promote career guidance & counseling through lectures by senior corporate executives and visiting professors.

Ø  Mentoring through an individual counseling.

Ø  To organize seminars on interview skills, personality development, communication skills, leadership skills, resume writing, analytical skills, quantitative ability, verbal and reasoning skills essential to all competitive exams.

The Outcomes of Career counseling cell are as follows:

  1.       Upon completion of the graduation programme of the students the career counseling cell will have following outcomes:
  2. The student will have acquired broad knowledge of various fields and skills necessary for employment.
  3. The students will be able to choose a career that matches their aptitude and personality leading to professional success and satisfaction.
  4. The students will be aware of various programs for higher studies.

Activities:

The cell also provides need based coaching for various competitive exams. Prominent Career Counsellors within and outside the state are invited to college in frequent manner and arrange close and meaningful interactions of students with them.

Keeping in view the competence, interests and acquired knowledge of the students, the cell conducts various programmes/workshop/sessions during the academic session of 2024-2025  to train and evaluate the students on the basis of their professional as well as interpersonal skills as detailed below:-

13th November 2024

A workshop-cum- career counselling programme was conducted by MAAC (Maya Academy of Advanced Creativity) on 13th November 2024. Around 50 students of +3 (Arts, Science, Commerce) participated in the workshop. Students were made aware about career in emerging fields of AVGC (Animation, visual effects, gaming and comic).

19th November 2024

Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Bhubaneswar conducted a career counselling session for +3 students (Arts, Science and Commerce). The session was followed by Quiz competition in which around 50 students participated. 5 students from different disciplines given prizes and were selected for the “Bhavan’s Emerging Leaders Contest” which was held on 29th January 2025 at the Bhavan’s Center for Communication and Management (BCCM) at Bhubaneswar.  

3rd December 2024

Trident Academy of Technology organised a career counselling programme for +3 3rd year students. It was followed by a Quiz competition on the theme “Environment and Climate change” for the students. Winners of the quiz competition were awarded cash prizes and certificates.

10th December 2024

A career counselling seminar on the theme “Career opportunities after graduation” was organised by VANIK on 10th December 2024 Ekamra College, Bhubaneswar-2. The seminar was followed by a Quiz competition on current affairs and prize distribution and cash prizes were distributed among the winners. Free study materials were also distributed among the students.

13th December 2024

The Bhubaneswar Chapter of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) organised a seminar- cum- career counselling session on 13th December 2024 for +3 3rd year students of Science and Commerce stream in Hall no- 1, Ekamra College, Bhubaneswar.

Innovation- the business school organised a seminar cum career counselling session on the subject “Emerging market trend for Career development” for +3 final year students of Commerce. Economics and Science stream on 13th December in Hall no- 1, Ekamra College, Bhubaneswar.

29th January 2025

Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan conducted its “Bhavan’s Emerging Leaders Contest” in  the Bhavan’s Center for Communication and Management (BCCM) at Bhubaneswar, in which seven students from different disciplines of Ekamra College, Bhubaneswar participated. Many competitions were organized in which our students participated. Satyaban Pradhan of +3 Final year bagged 2nd prize in Face Painting Competition.

20Th February 2025

Prism Media an academy for media and creative arts conducted an AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic) Educational talent search test for +3 students of Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Students were provided insights into the latest trends and applications of AVGC for enhancing their career opportunities.

Frameboxx 2.0 an academy for media and creative arts conducted a seminar cum career counselling session on “Career in Multimedia and Animation” for +3 students of Arts, Science and Commerce streams in Hallo no-1, Ekamra College, Bhubaneswar. Students were provided insights into the latest trends and applications of AVGC for enhancing their career opportunities. The seminar was followed by a drawing competition in which winners were given prizes.
